Founded in 2008, the Foundation for Scottish Fencing is a not for profit Scottish Charity SC036116 that supports and encourages youth fencing in Scotland irrespective of background, gender or ability.
We run a series of U9/U11/U13 and U15 Foil, Epee and Sabre youth fencing competitions each season called the Youth Development Series (YDS) and a senior three weapon team event called the Tri-Weapon Cup.
The Youth Development Series (YDS) events attracts fencers with mixed abilities from novice fencers attending their first competition to Scottish and British Youth champions. The majority of Scottish & GBR cadet and Junior fencers start their competitive journey at YDS events.
ALL profits from the Foundations events are used to fund grants to purchase fencing kit to be used by not for profit clubs, schools and universities in Scotland to enable and encourage young people to participate in fencing.
The Foundation recently funded 22 x fencing clubs in Scotland with £250 Covid grants to help with the additional costs of masks, gloves, sanitizers, visors, wipes etc required for returning to fencing after lockdown.
A big thank you to all the fencers, clubs, coaches, referees, parents and volunteers who support our events, without whom we would not generate the revenue which funds our grant awards supporting youth fencing in Scotland.
